...Continued from Itineraries - 7 Days
Day 4:
An early start with
a packed breakfast
and lunch will take
uus into Mkuze Game
Reserve for the day.
This park is famous
for the variety of
habitat types it
supports including
savannah, sand
forest, swamp
forest, riverine
forest and
grassland. We’ll be
looking for
Pink-throated
Twinspot, African
Broadbill, Rudd’s
Apalis, Gorgeous
Bush-shrike,
Neergard’s Sunbird,
Olive-tree Warbler
and others.
This park has some
wonderful hides at
water holes and just
sitting in one for a
couple of hours can
be extremely
rewarding. We can
also do a guided
walk in the Fig Tree
Forest and should
get Green Malkoha,
Broad-billed Roller,
Trumpeter Hornbill,
White-eared Barbet
and we may even be
lucky to see a Pel’s
Fishing Owl here.
Apart from a good chance of seeing both Black and White Rhino,
Elephant and
numerous antelope
species, we might
even see the
diminutive and rare
Suni antelope, the
smallest of all.
We'll leave the
Reserve to reach the
lodge in time for a
hot (or cold!)
shower and a
sundowner before
dinner.
